Liga LocalID User Guide

Liga LocalID is installed on the user's PC and lets the user order a new certificate, renew an existing certificate that is present on the smart card or verify the certificates being present on the inserted smart card.

A smart card reader needs to be connected to the PC and the user needs to have a JCOP based smart card.

Liga LocalID can currently be operated in Danish, Swedish and English. The language will set automatically depending on the chosen language of the operating system.

Liga LocalID requires a Java JRE to be installed before usage. Please download and install from this URL before installing Liga LocalID - https://adoptium.net/temurin/releases/?version=11

 

1. Main Page / Menu

Generally there are four options one can start from the menu.

  • Connect: Which connects you to the card, and moves you to the Identities options.

  • Identities: Issues a identity to a card and gives the option to view the certificates which is present on the smart card. The Identity options can also renew an existing certificate that is present on the smart card.

  • Reset: Deletes all identities on the card, which will prompt window which allows the user to insert a new pin code for the smart card.

  • Settings: Shows the LocalID version on the bottom page and indicators for Java and AD CA is found. Also in the settings options you will find EULA agreements, and the Licenses section which allows the user to view libraries and licenses that Liga used for the production of LocalID. Finally there is the Advanced sections which allows users to choose options that will “enable the delete of identities” and a “Advanced functions” which will grant the options to install a applet to the smart card.

“Exit” will close the LocalID program.

1.1 Connect

The following information are shown in the pop-up window:

  • Connect shows the smart card reader and keys.

  • The user can view the type of smart card reader that is currently used.

  • The “Connect” bottom will move your position to the Identities options.

  • If there is multiple card readers connected, it will show options of the card reader with their corresponding smart cards which the user can connect too.

1.2 Identities

The following information are shown in the pop-up window:

  • Identities shows the smart card reader and keys.

  • The user have the options to issue a identity to the card, which is the identity that is currently logged in.

  • Identities: shows the existing certificates that are present on the smart card. The field is a drop menu and in case there are multiple certificates present on the smart card, chose the one to be renewed.

Pressing “Renew” will start the process.

The successful issuing process ends with a pop-up window stating that the card is ready for use. Pressing “OK” closes the window and brings you to the “Menu”.

In case an error occurs a pop-up window opens with a short error message. Clicking “OK” will close the error message and you see the “New Card” window. The progress bar shows that the process has ended and the last line in the information fields holds a more detailed error description.

  • Advanced Users:

    • Gives you the options of either viewing the full details of the certificate.

    • Gives you the options to download the the certificate.

    • delete identity, deletes the certificate der is issued in smart card.

1.3 Reset

The following information are shown in the pop-up window:

  • Reset shows the smart card reader and keys.

  • The “Reset card” button reset the certificate on the card, which will prompt window which allows the user to insert a new pin code for the smart card.

    • Advanced Users:

      • In the advance mode the user now has the options of installing the applet on the smart card.

1.4 Settings

The following information are shown in the pop-up window:

  • Shows the LocalID version on the bottom page and the homepage of Liga.com

    • Indicators for Java and AD CA is green if found and red if its missing and show the location of the CA.

  • EULA agreements can be viewed in the settings option.

  • Licenses section which allows the user to view libraries and licenses that Liga used for the production of LocalID.

  • Advanced sections allows users to choose options that will “enable the delete of identities” and a “Advanced functions” which will grant the options to install a applet to the smart card.

  • Logs show the activity of LocalID application.
